The Division of Child Development requires monthly inspection of the playground by a staff person trained in playground safety. Beginning with a general inspection for litter, debris, and overall condition of equipment, the inspection checklist also includes the condition of surfacing under and around the equipment. Materials must have adequate depth, free of glass,debris and not be compacted or deteriorating. Equipment must be free from sharp points,corners or edges,have no missing protective caps or plugs, and be free of potential clothing entanglements, exposed moving parts or tripping hazards. Playground equipment must be free from rot, rust,cracks, and splinters, be safely anchored and be free of opstacles. Playground is to be free of drainage problems.
